GDPR and Automatic Opt-in after checkout

In reading the regulations and consulting with our legal counsel, we found it important to communicate the gravity and risk of using the Automatic Checkout Page Opt-in feature when handling potential or existing business opportunities with citizens of Europe.

What does this affect?
This will affect your checkout page set up ONLY if you are currently using the Automatic Checkout Page Opt-in setting.
If someone does not Opt-in to receive marketing emails, which emails will they not receive?
If a customer chooses not to receive marketing emails on the checkout page they will be opting out from receiving all Email Broadcasts and Email Sequences from your site.
This will not prevent them from receiving Drip emails or Product Announcements.
What if I need to communicate with my Members about their purchase?
Use Drip emails to communicate with the Members of a Product and let them know when new content is available.
Use a Product Announcement to place a banner across the top of the Product page that will be visible to all Members who log in and view the Product.
What if someone previously Opted-in through a Form on my Kajabi site?
If a customer has already Opted-in and they are purchasing a new Offer, the consent checkbox on the Checkout page will already be checked. If they uncheck the box they will be unsubscribed from all marketing emails:
I use a third party email provider, how does this affect me?
If the customer does not check the consent box on your checkout page their contact information will not be sent to your third party email provider.
For instance, If a customer chooses not to receive marketing emails on your checkout page they would not be added as a contact in MailChimp through Kajabi's native integration with MailChimp. However, you could technically use Zapier to create them as a contact in your third party email provider. This is done at your own risk and may not be considered GDPR compliant depending on the content of your emails.
